Distinguished Master’s Thesis Award

Congratulations to the recipient of the 2024 Distinguished Master's Thesis Award! A recipient from each 2024 category – arts and humanities and biological and life sciences – is chosen by faculty from the broad disciplinary area. The award recognizes distinguished scholarship and research at the master’s level.

Thesis Title: Investigating rapid divergence of sensory systems between satellite populations of the Mexican tetra (Astyanax mexicanus)

Maya Enriquez from the Biological & Life Sciences category was nominated by the University of Minnesota to the regional 2024 MAGS/ProQuest Distinguished Master’s Thesis Award competition.

The 2025 competition will accept nominations from the disciplines of Social Sciences; and, Mathematics, Physical Sciences, and Engineering.

Excellence in Teaching Award

Congratulations to the recipient of the 2024 Excellence in Teaching Award! One master’s and one doctoral student are chosen by faculty from a broad disciplinary area. The award recognizes the importance of excellence in teaching and mentoring as a component of graduate education and the preparation of graduate students for future service as college and university faculty.
