International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS)
International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS) is dedicated to serving the University of Minnesota’s international community. Its primary mission is to assist international students and scholars in successfully accomplishing the goals that brought them to the university by using all available resources.
Minnesota English Language Program
The Minnesota English Language Program (MELP) offers English as a Second Language courses for admitted students who want to improve their English language skills as well as an Intensive English Program for students preparing to apply for admission to a university or college, or for those preparing to take an English proficiency exam.
International TA Program
The International TA Program offers courses and individual consultations to international graduate students who seek professional development in their teaching and use of English in the U.S. cultural context.
Minnesota International Student Association (MISA)
MISA is an organization of over 4,000 U.S. and international students that represents the interests of international students and promotes cultural awareness and understanding on the university campus and surrounding community.
The Council of International Graduate Students (CIGS)
The Council of International Graduate Students (CIGS) provides a place for international graduate and professional students to advocate their voices about their academic, professional, and social development. The group organizes events tailored specifically to benefit the international student community at the University, while allowing international students to form ties with domestic students.
Global Programs & Strategy (GPS) Alliance
The GPS Alliance is the central, coordinating international office for the University of Minnesota system. It focuses on international services for faculty on all campuses, academic exchanges with institutions around the world, and funding information for graduate study and research abroad.
