Community of Scholars Program Wins 2018 NAGAP Promotion of Excellence Award

The Graduate School is pleased to announce that the Graduate School Diversity Office’s Community of Scholars Program (COSP) has been selected as the recipient of the 2018 NAGAP Promotion of Excellence Award.

The Promotion of Excellence Award is presented to an individual or team that has developed or implemented methodology (e.g., processes, policies, events, technologies) demonstrating best practices, creativity and/or innovation in graduate enrollment management (GEM) that could serve as a model across the GEM profession.

The Community of Scholars Program works towards creating an institutional environment that supports the academic and professional success of graduate students who are under-represented in academia. COSP assists students (US citizens and permanent residents) to more fully participate in the University; develop supportive relationships with advisors and mentors; build a sense of community through academic seminars and professional development workshops; and connect students to the Twin Cities and broader U of MN system through teaching, research and community engagement opportunities.

COSP team members Drs. Noro Andriamanalina, Karla Padron and Jasmine Tang have been recognized nationally for their work. As the COSP director, Noro will be presented with the award at the NAGAP Annual Conference in New Orleans, LA on April 12 and has been invited to present and discuss the winning entry in a session at the 2019 Annual Conference held in Toronto.

Congratulations to the Community of Scholars Program team!
