Ecology, Evolution, and Behavior Student Wins Fulbright Scholarship

Winner John Cossette Will Study at the Institute of Integrative Biology in Switzerland

John Cossette, Ph.D. student in Ecology, Evolution and Behavior, has won a prestigious Fulbright Scholarship for the upcoming academic year. Cossette will work with a research group at the Institute of Integrative Biology in Zurich, Switzerland, determining the role of individual traits, social history, and genetic factors in the evolutionary transition from individual cells to cooperative multicellular groups. His research has potential applications for the study of cancer biology, social behavior, and social conflict. Cossette received a B.A. in Biology from Carleton College in 2011.  

The Fulbright Program was created and funded by Congress in 1946 to promote international good will through the exchange of students and scholars in all areas of education, culture, and science. The program awards approximately 1900 grants annually in all fields of study, and operates in more than 140 countries worldwide.
