The Graduate School welcomes all students, faculty, and staff to celebrate First Gen Day! First-gen grads are encouraged to share their stories before the event via z.umn.edu/1stgengrad, some of which will be featured at the event.
When: Tuesday, November 5, 2019 | 10 - 11 a.m.
Where: Room 375, 10 Church Street (the former Bell Museum)
What: Time to celebrate anyone who is/will be the first in their family to earn a graduate degree. Light refreshments will be served.
Who: First-gen grad students, faculty, and staff, as well as those who support them.
Why: First-Gen Day is intended to commemorate the signing of the Higher Education Act of 1965 which sought to promote educational access for historically marginalized populations.
Free t-shirts to the first 30 graduate students who attend!
