What is the Roger D. Gordon Endowed Evans Professional and Graduate Degree Award?
Established in 1930 by the Western Golf Association and celebrated amateur golfer Charles “Chick” Evans Jr., the Evans Scholars Foundation awards full tuition and housing college scholarships to high-achieving caddies with limited financial means.
Roger Gordon was a University of Minnesota Evans Scholar alumnus. In his memory, endowed funds were created to support Graduate School studies at the University of Minnesota for Evans Scholarship recipients.

$5,500 award
Who Is Eligible?
- Evans Scholars Alumni
- Incoming students to a new master’s research-based graduate program, doctoral research-based graduate program, or a professional degree program at the Twin Cities Campus.*
- University of Minnesota-Twin Cities Graduate students currently enrolled in and in good academic standing in a master’s research-based graduate program, doctoral research-based graduate program, or a professional degree program.
*Receiving a Roger D. Gordon Endowed Evans Professional and Graduate Degree Award does not guarantee admission into a UMN-Twin Cities graduate/professional program.
How DO I APPLY?
Incoming and current graduate students apply directly via Google Form.
WHAT IS THE DEADLINE?
The 2025 application window will open October 1, 2025. The submission deadline is January 30, 2026 by 5:00pm central time.
Deadline extensions will not be granted; late submissions will not be accepted.
